چکیده

Measurements of electron, muon and hadron lateral distributions of extensive air showers as recorded in the Karlsruhe shower core and array detector experiment are presented. The data cover the energy range from 5 10 eV up to almost 10 eV and extend from the inner core region to distances of 200 m. The electron and muon distributions are corrected for mutual contaminations by taking into account the detector properties in the experiment. All distributions are well described by NKG functions. The scale radii describing the electron and hadron data best are '30 and Astroparticle Physics 14 (2001) 245±260 www.elsevier.nl/locate/astropart * Corresponding author. Comparison of measured and simulated lateral distributions for electrons and muons with KASCADE

Lateral distributions for electrons and muons in extensive air showers measured with the array of the KASCADE experiment are compared to results of simulations based on the high-energy hadronic interaction models QGSJet and SIBYLL. It is shown, that the muon distributions are well described by both models. Deviations are found for the electromagnetic component, where both models predict a steep...

The Electron / Muon Ratio in Eas at Andabove the " Knee

New data on the electron/muon ratio measured by the KASCADE extensive air shower experiment are presented. This ratio has been proven to be an important parameter for the determination of the mass of the primary particle. The electron and muon detector responses and reconstruction accuracies of the shower parameters have been studied in detailed simulations. Due to the extended lateral distribu...

30TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE Tests of hadronic interaction models with muon pseudorapidities measured with KASCADE-Grande

The Muon Tracking Detector in the KASCADE-Grande experiment allows the measurement of muon directions up to 700 m from the shower center. It means, that nearly all muons produced in a shower and surviving to the ground level are subject of investigation. It is important not only for studying mean muon production heights but also for investigations of EAS muon pseudorapidity distributions. These...

30TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE Muon spectra reconstructed from inclined air showers measured by KASCADE- Grande

Inclined air showers (i.e. showers with zenith angle above 40 degrees) are registered by the KASCADE-Grande experiment, which is designed to address fundamental questions about the origin, composition and acceleration mechanisms of primary cosmic rays between 10 and 10 eV. Despite the aggravate reconstruction due to the thin scintillation detectors used in KASCADE-Grande these inclined events a...
